River Valley Architects was contacted to provide design services for a renovation and addition to the existing Franciscan Sisters Convent on Prior Avenue South in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Careful consideration was given to the expansion and remodeling of this facility to enhance the neighborhood and create a transition between low-density and high-density residential districts.  The facility was ultimately converted to a 36 unit Senior Assisted Living Facility.  The proposed two-story addition is approximately 8,000 sq. ft., with a combined overall building area of 27,800 sq. ft.  Spaces include, 22 private resident rooms, 14 semi-private resident rooms, common areas, a dining room, activity rooms, and a kitchen.
