UW-Stout Recreation Complex

Menomonie, WI

In an effort to replace their existing football field and provide expanded outdoor recreational spaces on campus, the University of Wisconsin-Stout collaborated with the Menomonie Area School District, the City of Menomonie, and private-public fundraising efforts to create the Recreation Complex.

The project included a football field with artificial turf, a stadium to seat 4,500 attendees, and an 18,000-square-foot addition to the fieldhouse accommodating new recreation spaces, a multi-purpose gymnasium, a new fitness center, and an aerobics room. Special features of the complex also included an indoor climbing wall and an outdoor Adventure Challenge Course which features a 50-foot-high exterior climbing tower and ropes course.

Because of restricted site space limitations, careful consideration was made to accommodate all of the programmed areas into a challenging space.
